Meditation:
From the purely physiological approach the brain consists of two halves, one half controls the linear, the scientific and the other the more flowing creative and arty aspects of the mind., There is a bridge that links these halves and in meditation this link is strengthened enabling the person to function in a more `whole-brained` way.
Meditation calms the manic activity in the brain allowing for a more receptive state of mind. This addresses many other physical issues such as sleeplessness, anxiety, high blood pressure and many other stress induced ailments.
The Hindus have a rather beautiful way to understand meditation. They regard mans body as the carriage and mans thoughts as the horses. Left to their own devices the horses run in any direction they please while the carriage bounces along behind in the wake. Meditation is the driver who controls the horses allowing for a smoother journey through life. Meditation is focussing on our thoughts, being aware when they wander off and gently, gracefully bringing them back to our control. For those on a spiritual journey meditation offers a time if stillness in which to hear the small still voice of God. A time to allow the mind to settle and surrender to God’s will, to be open to receive the guidance God may offer for the unfoldment of your life.
There are many kinds of meditation… I teach a variety allowing for different people and lifestyles. Meditations can last a few minutes, half an hour or an hour.. it all depends on the time you have available. For details of classes please contact me.
